Year 10 Unloc Changemaker Day 2026

Developing Entrepreneurial Skills and Creating Social Impact

Students studying GCSE Business and Enterprise BTEC took part in an inspiring Unloc Changemaker Day, designed to develop their entrepreneurial skills, creativity and understanding of social enterprise.

The day was delivered by Unloc, with students learning how businesses can be created to address real-world challenges and make a positive difference within communities.

Students began the day with an interactive session delivered by Anna from Unloc, who introduced the concept of social enterprise and explored how young people can develop ideas that combine business thinking with social impact. Students learned about the process of setting up a social enterprise, including identifying a problem, developing a solution, understanding their target audience and creating a clear proposal.

A key focus of the day was understanding the importance of teamwork and the different roles needed to successfully develop an idea. Students explored the skills required within an effective team, including leadership, communication, creativity, organisation and problem-solving.

Working collaboratively, students were challenged to create their own social enterprise ideas and develop a pitch explaining their concept, purpose and potential impact.

Students produced a wide range of innovative ideas, including a Task Rabbit-style service connecting people who need support with young people who can offer practical skills, rentable sports facilities designed to increase access to physical activity opportunities, and an AI careers advice service supporting young people with exploring future pathways and accessing guidance.

The Changemaker Day provided students with the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in a practical setting, developing skills that are valuable across a wide range of careers and industries.

Through this experience, students strengthened their confidence, creativity and ability to work as part of a team while exploring how enterprise can be used to create positive change.

We would like to thank Unloc for delivering such an engaging and inspiring session and for supporting our students to think creatively about the role they can play in shaping the future.
