Sixth Form
We are extremely fortunate to have a number of universities in Leeds and the surrounding areas. We have developed a close working relationship with universities across the city and have formed strong partnerships that enable us to engage with campus visits and higher education fairs. Universities also attend our annual careers fair in school.
Our Sixth Form is proud to be one of 43 nationally selected colleges, and the only one in Leeds, to partner with New College, University of Oxford, through their prestigious Step Up Programme. This unique collaboration offers our students three years of tailored support, from Year 11 to Year 13, to help them prepare for applications to Oxbridge. Students benefit from personal statement workshops aligned with the new UCAS requirements for 2026 entry, mock interview preparation, and a fully subsidised residential experience at New College, Oxford. Additionally, each student is paired with a personal tutor from the university, ensuring they receive expert guidance throughout their time at our Sixth Form.
The University of Huddersfield, who oversee the Progression Module, attend our annual Higher Education evening for both students and parents/ carers. They offer our students support with their personal statements as well as providing guidance on student finance and university life.
We are proud of our close links with the University of Leeds, not only being right on our doorstep but also through the valuable contributions of senior university staff who sit on our governing committee. Their expertise helps shape our Sixth Form careers programme and enriches the opportunities available to our students. Our partnership also supports the delivery of the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), with in-school workshops, talks from PhD students, and visits to the university campus. In addition, our EPQ students benefit from exclusive access to the University of Leeds libraries in the city centre with their own personal library card.
