Year 10 Mock Interviews 2026

Developing Confidence and Employability Skills

Our Year 10 Mock Interview Programme is one of the biggest and most anticipated careers events in our calendar each year, providing students with the opportunity to experience a professional interview environment and develop valuable employability skills.

This year, 226 Year 10 students took part in a 25-minute mock interview with one of 21 professionals from a wide range of industries and organisations, including the Ministry of Justice, Jaguar, Leeds City College, Bradford College, Kier Construction, the Home Office, the Department for Transport, Quickline and Equans PPM Limited.

The interviews were designed to help students understand the expectations of employers and education providers, while building confidence in communicating their skills, experiences and aspirations.

In preparation for the event, students spent the two weeks beforehand working through interview preparation activities during form time. They explored the importance of first impressions, professional communication, body language and how to effectively answer questions by drawing on their own experiences and achievements.

During their interviews, students were encouraged to reflect on their strengths, discuss their interests and practise presenting themselves in a professional setting. Each student received feedback from their interviewer, helping them identify areas of confidence and opportunities for further development.

The event gave students a valuable opportunity to step outside their comfort zone, practise skills they will use throughout their future education and careers, and gain insight directly from professionals working across a range of sectors.

We would like to thank all of the professionals who gave their time to support our students. Their feedback, encouragement and advice played an important role in helping our Year 10 students develop the confidence and skills needed for their next steps.
