Year 10 Tech She Can Day 2026

Exploring the Future of AI and Sustainable Innovation

Our Year 10 students took part in an inspiring Tech She Can Day, delivered by the charity Tech She Can, with support from colleagues from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Accenture.

The event was designed to introduce students to the future of technology, explore the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in society and highlight the wide range of careers available within the technology sector.

Throughout the day, students explored how AI can be used responsibly and sustainably to solve real-world challenges. They learned about the importance of innovation, creativity and ethical thinking when developing new technologies, before being challenged to design their own sustainable AI product.

Working collaboratively in teams, students developed their ideas, considered the problem their product would solve, identified their target users and prepared a pitch to present their concept to employees from Accenture and the Department for Work and Pensions.

Students rose to the challenge exceptionally well, demonstrating creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills throughout the day. They produced a wide range of innovative ideas, showcasing how technology can be used to support people and improve everyday life.

The winning team, Team Able-Aid, created an AI-powered support tool designed to help individuals with mental health conditions access local services tailored to their needs. Their idea included personalised recommendations based on an individual’s diagnosis, alongside bespoke feedback and reviews of available services.

Other groups developed equally impressive ideas, including an AI revision assistant designed to support GCSE and A-Level students with their studies and an AI chatbot designed to support elderly people with dementia by providing medication reminders and additional assistance.

The event provided students with valuable insight into the growing importance of technology, AI and digital skills across a wide range of industries. It also encouraged students to consider how they could use innovation to create solutions that have a positive impact on society.
