Best Results for 3 Years!

After significant hard work, dedication and sheer determination by both students and staff, there were many happy faces in August as the school continued to improve its exam performance and celebrated the best overall results in three years.

Over 56% of students achieved five ‘good’ GCSEs including English and Maths at grade C and above, securing their well-deserved places in the sixth form, at college or on apprenticeships. This represents an increase of 10% since 2013 and puts the school above the 2014 national average.

Around a quarter of students gained the English Baccalaureate combination of subjects, which comprises of English, Maths, Science, History or Geography, and a Language. This broad portfolio of subjects provides them a sound platform of skills for study at Advanced Level and Higher Education.

The sixth form continues to go from strength to strength. An A’ Level pass rate of over 99% with an impressive 54% of grades being either A or B (or equivalent), means the school achieved the best results since records began. Around 70 of our students were delighted to accept their first-choice places at university, with 18 of them going to one of the prestigious Russell Group.

Of course, there is no room for complacency and the school is currently focused on its next steps for continued improvement. Our Year 7s have entered the school with excitement, enthusiasm and energy and are already settling into new routines. As with all other years in the school, we will ensure they benefit from the highest quality teaching, an inspiring learning experience, and a supportive environment, in which to flourish and succeed.
